Data-Driven Literacy Outcomes: A District's Success Story
The Problem
Literacy Curriculum in the Waterford School District
While using a balanced literacy approach, educators in Michigan's Waterford School District were not seeing results accelerating students' foundational reading skills.
NWEA Reading Test Results SY 2019–2020:
of students at or above norms
We had just come off a re-rollout of guided reading, but it really wasn't showing solid results. We were generating a lot of data, but the interventions we were using with students weren't accelerating their foundational skills.
